Welcome to Althea - the future of Pokémon Tournaments.
At least, that's what the fliers say. What they don't tell you is that almost nothing is known about the secret island upon which the tournament is held. There is no mention of the fact that the labyrinthine nature of the city which encompasses the mass of land is constantly changing and ever curious. In fact, nothing at all is advertised about the seemingly terrible and eldricht secrets hidden deep within the city, of which our trainers have little inkling. Deposited upon the island itself after a grueling series of legal waivers and contractual obligations, the one detail that seems to be missing is precisely how or when the tournament is over.
With a gargantuan, involving site plot revolving around a mysterious and ever-shifting island, trainers have been sent in to participate in a 'tournament' while unearthing the cthulhonic secrets of what seems to be a city without a maker or purpose. Will they plumb its deepest depths in time, or will they be consumed by the madness that seems to threaten with each passing day? Who built the highly advanced technology, and why? Will anyone manage to survive at all? Althea focuses heavily on customization, social interaction, and a fully integrated plot.
A legion of Lore entries expound upon the world and its nuances: everything from a stat system that allows players to grow their Pokémon exactly as they desire, to custom moves and Auras that allow additional tactical options echoes the focus on letting players control their own destiny. Quests and missions help pull players together without forcing people into groups, with an emphatic focus on balanced player versus player matches. Not only are they the fastest and most efficient way to train, but an excellent way to make new friends and rivals without hamstringing you for the occasional loss.
The stories are there to be told, waiting for you to pen them into being.
