A. Each entrant will begin with one Level 10 Pokemon of their choice, corresponding to their answer in the signups: Paper corresponds to Ground, Rock to Water, Scissors to Electric. Once you've decided your Pokemon from the appropriate section below and posted it here (do not edit once posted, please), continue down to the next section. If a Pokemon was not listed here, it was either unsuitable for non-aquatic combat (several Water-types) or completely retarded and therefore excluded for being sucky. Many water types fit both bills. Ground: Sandshrew, Diglett, Cubone, Phanpy, Trapinch, Hippopotas Electric: Pikachu, Voltorb, Electabuzz, Mareep, Electrike, Plusle, Minun, Shinx, Pachirisu Water: Squirtle, Psyduck, Poliwag, Krabby, Staryu, MAGIKARP, Totodile, Marill, Mudkip, Corphish, Goldeen, Piplup, Buizel, Shellos B. Each Pokemon will have a grand total of two moves; they will NOT possess any of their normal levelup moves. Instead, they will know two moves, depending on type: ground and electric have moves both in the 60 and 90 power range, whereas water varies more by having 40 and 120. Keep in mind that in freeform, move powers are a little more vague, so the differences aren't quite as pronounced as they might be in the RPG proper. Ground: Mud Shot, Earth Power Electric: Charge Beam, Thunderbolt Water: Water Gun, Hydro Pump C. Now, the method to the Labyrinth's madness. First off, everyone starts out alone in a maze crawling with random level 20 Pokemon. Each Pokemon has wildly differing movesets, TMs possibly included, and has one other minor advantage: They're all batshit insane. To avoid an ignominious death, it is recommended that you join up with another player, preferably one who can cover more types than yourself. Two heads are better than one, after all, and having two Pokemon with variable movesets more than doubles your chances of surviving. Which is well and good, except for one other, MINOR point of interest: the $3000 pot. The money is divided between each survivor to have found the center of the maze and survived until the end of the arena match, which means that for each survivor, all the others receive a much smaller reward. Basically, you want to be the last guy standing. How you do this is entirely up to you: ambushing trainers mid-battle with each other or wild Pokemon, sacrificing your chances at a win to hold up another trainer from getting into the "hill" and hoping your "friend" actually gives you half of his earnings, forcing trainers with Pokemon weak to yours to join you and watch your back - until you're vulnerable to be taken down yourself, of course. However, you may NOT retrieve and use another's Pokemon, and there are no potions - rest is the only way to recover your Pokemon, and that doesn't tend to work too well when you're being constantly attacked. On the plus side, even if you die five minutes in you're eligible to possibly keep your Pokemon: same level, normal moveset, but with the arena's moves tossed in (Magikarp with Hydro Pump and Water gun wut?). Winner(s) are automatically disqualified from keeping their Pokemon, but any dead/incapacitated player has a chance of keeping their Pokemon, no matter how quick or pathetic their death was. D. As a quick explanation: you and others are free to make your own topics, just the same as anyone else in the arena match is free to jump in and attack you if they're in the same general area. There's no way to "seal" your trainer off from the chaos, and once you reach the center, be prepared for rather a large brawl. Not responding to a direct challenge (aka a topic attacking you) AFTER being alerted to its existence (with some degree of proof) for 48 hours will result in immediate disqualification. If you end the match alive, but not in the blender known as the central zone, you will receive NOTHING - no L10, no $3000. In closing: Keep it brutal, keep it nasty, and play it smart. And get a meatshield or two. edit: with the slowness of arena/Althea in general/number of inactives, I guess we can waive the 48 hour rule Edited by Munchkinator, Nov 8 2008, 12:59:21 PM.
