((Sorry the title isn't more witty))

"Hold on Palia, I'm going fix this."

Karas covered her sister with a dirty old blanket she swiped from a dumpster. Palia laid wriggling in pain on the ground with several large red sores on her forearms. She tossed and turned while suffering from a searing headache, hotflashes, coldflashes and probably a fever.

Karas blamed herself. She had climbed into a tree earlier that day and disturbed a hive of Beedrill that were nesting there. The twins were able to fend the insects off, but not before they stung Palia several times. Karas really did have a knack for making the bugs of Arcairth pissy...

Maybe she should invest in some Raid.

Walky, walky, walky... Today's a pretty good day for a walk, no?

I guess.

... Anyway, I was out walking Acerbus again, whAm I a dog now? Uhh... well, ummm... I... uh... erm...

YES. YES YOU ARE.

... Oh. Okay.

Now, where was I? Oh! Right. I was out walking Acerbus again, when I sensed two familiar people nearby. Karas and Palia, if I recall their names correctly. Those two kids we fought that vinemold with last week. Say, Acerbus, you wanna go see them?

I guess.

(That's a "yes," for those of ya in the audience that don't speak boring.)

(We have an audience?)

(You mean you never noticed them?)

(Noticed whom?)

(...Nevermind.)

Walky, walky, walky... Hmm, now that we've gotten closer, I've noticed that something doesn't feel quite right. I wonder if they got in trouble again.

Shall we walk faster?

I have a better idea. You stay here for a bit, and I'll go on ahead to check stuff out.

I sat Acerbus down under a tree, and had him take a swig of that nasty stuff from his canteen before I popped out of his body and went in the direction of the two girls. I partially phased out of this plane to make the travel easier, and sped up.

She shivered and nodded in Karas' direction. She could barely move her body from the pain. It was the worst in her right arm, but she felt sore all over, and just opening her mouth to say 'Thank You' was too much of a chore for her to be bothered with.

And then a Duskull popped out of some nearby foliage. Karas didn't seem to notice and was mumbling to herself about what she was going to do. Palia on the other hand, rolled her eyes and cringed.

'Oh great, now I'm hallucinating.' she thought to herself.

...

'Wait...that's not just a Duskull, that's Averna!'

Pushing herself to lift her body into an upright position, she sat up to greet Averna. She didn't talk however, she simply smiled faintly.

Karas continued to keep to herself, her back turned and her head lost in the clouds. Oh well, she'd catch up eventually.

"Duskull dus!" I greeted. Palia didn't look too well. Should she be sitting up? "Duskull?"

Argh. It's really annoying, not being able to speak English -- or Japanese, or whatever language it is that humans around here speak -- by myself. England and Japan don't even exist, so that complicates the matter a great deal more. In regards to what language the humans are speaking, I mean. I guess I'll just say that it sucks not being able to speak English by myself, though, since it's the translation convention and all...

(Goddammit, Averna! I just fixed that wall. I swear, when I made you up, I never intended for you to be this aware of the medium.)

(Oops.)

(Anyway, plot. Get back to it.)

BUT I DIGRESS! Where was I? Ah, right. Palia didn't look too well. I floated over and put a hand analogue on her shoulder, trying to communicate that she should lie back down. "Dusk duskull."

I've probably gotten Karas's attention by now, just by virtue of being noisy, so maybe she'll explain to me what's up.

((Am I overdoing it with Averna's medium awareness? I could cut back on it, if you'd like.))
