General Overview Team Rocket is a global paramilitary organization, an immensely powerful coalition of sects generally dedicated to the most lucrative forms of crime possible; anything and everything, from stealing and reselling Pokemon to protection rackets to buying out and reconstructing companies in their image to invading and quite literally conquering entire towns and cities. While their modus operandi varies between each individual sect, Team Rocket is feared by some, respected by a few, hated by most, but as a whole, is known by everyone - no other criminal organization has a tenth of their power, and certain of its more militant sects are legendary for the sheer brutality they display. Nowhere on the planet is truly safe from the organization's influence. Adding insult to injury, TR is also one of the planet's leading scientific authorities - not publicly, of course, but Rocket labs often go far beyond cutting edge in their pursuit of knowledge, and the organization has an obscene amount of influence in a number of public laboratories; they provide funding and researchers, and in return, are the first to learn of any advances. Given their boundless funding and immense size, not to mention formidable military power, Team Rocket has managed to stay ahead of police and regional militaries for some decades - while there are plenty of arrests, government contacts are generally tapped within hours to free the occasional important TR member. Of equal importance, Team Rocket is rarely a harsh taskmaster once they do have control of a region, though the initial fracas is often bloody; enough people already hate them that they generally simmer down after reconstructing the target to their tastes, leaving behind only token occupation forces or disguised techies. Sects While the fact that TR is split into numerous subsects is fairly well known by now, the exact identities and quantities are generally fairly poorly understood: most sects wear the TR uniform and refer to themselves solely as TR when discovered, reflecting that the difference between sects is nearly unanimously internal to the organization. No secret is safe forever, though, and military intelligence has confirmed the identities of several.
