Chapter One: A Frisby Tale As Alexis made her daily stroll along Cynor's coast, she stopped for a moment as she stood barefooted (which she usually was; Sandals and sand simply don't mix) in the sand. She was thinking of what perilous journey she could soup up today; Maybe a mushy romance or a suspensful mystery. Lately her daydreaming wasn't equating to anything really amusing, at least in her opinion. It was just hard to find the proper muse lately. Regular beach goers weren't filling her with inspiration, and her usual Godzilla stories where she saves the day from some mutated asshole Pokémon, like Gyarados or Tentacruel, just weren't cutting it either. She tapped her mouth lightly with her index finger in thought, letting the light afternoon wind drift through her skirt, revealing the scandalous bikini beneath it. She didn't really mind the revealing look much, not that she was a whore or anything. It was just a natural look for many of the people that lined the beach, so she just assumed she blended in. Anyway, she continued deep in the thought, when a different sort of finger poked her in the shoulder. She turned around as she removed her own finger to face whoever tapped her. It was a boy about her age with short dirty blond hair and a cheesy grin. He was in a pair of dark blue swim trunks, and his shirtless body revealed a less than picturesque vision. He wasn't fat or anything, but rather the opposite, and his emaciated appearance gave her the impression he was trying just a little bit too much. "Can I have my frisby back?" he plainly stated as he pointed at a red disc lieing on the ground next to her feet. She must not have noticed it roll over to her while she was pondering the depths of her conscious. "Ya, I guess." she replied, as she picked it up and wiped off the sand that she also must have kicked onto it. She handed it back to him and he ran off with his grin and everything. With that interuption out of the way she was able to move on to bigger and better things, namely: Something that never happened. She could see it now as she passed the frisby store, whose transparent glass windows showed a few customers walking around inside, selecting their choice from the ridiculous amount of styles they had. A man, despite the torrid climate, would walk out of the store in thick blue jeans and a gray sweatshirt. He would have a black ski mask pulled over his large head, and in his beastly paws he would carry several bags of whatever the store had to offer. Since in this case all the store carried was frisbys and surf boards, the bags would be filled with rare and priceless models of frisbys (like anyone cares, but hey it's a fuckin' daydream). He would chuckle to himself as he ran away from the scene of the crime, and upon entering the store, Alexis would find the people who had been in there were all slaughtered, some pretty much decapitated and others shot...with something, Alexis wasn't sure what the hell it was. However, around this time her imagination was becoming a cruel bitch, and it shook her back to reality on the beach, where she was once again face to face with the anorexic guy from earlier. "Oh, did you drop your frisby again?" she asked him, looking around for the red circular object she found just a moment ago.

But she never found it, and the boy showed her he had it in his hands anyway. "Nah. I was actually just wondering if you wanted to toss it around with me. My friends had to leave so I'm kind of stuck here for the next few hours all alone." He ran his fingers breifly through his hair while waiting for a response. He seemed a little tense, and Alexis wasn't too sure what his intentions were. But, it could be potential for a new scenario, and who knew; Perhaps this guy could be a new friend. "Uh- ya, ok. I can play frisby for a little bit. I'm not very good at catching though, so bare with me." she flashed him a cheesy smile of her own. She wondered if that counted as flirting. His eyes lit up at her reponse, and he ran backwards a fair distance and yelled at her to prepare. He threw the frisby into the air in a straight line. It was obvious he had experience with this throwing buisness, and Alexis actually found it easy to snatch the piece of plastic out of the air and sandwich it between her hands. She threw it back and watched as it curved off course and rolled away from the boy. He frowned and ran after it like it was his prey. "Err- maybe I should have mentioned i'm not the best at throwing either." Alexis shouted at the boy, who returned with the frisby. "It's ok, I wasn't very good when I first started either." he replied. They took turns for the next hour or so just throwing it back and forth. Sometimes they had a nice volley going, and other times not so much. Nonetheless, Alexis at the very least was entertained, and it took her mind off her failure at creativity. "So, you from around here?" he suddenly piped up, having been silent for the past hour. "Ya, actually I am. There's not a lot of houses or anything here, but me and my parents live in one of the few available about a mile away from here." she replied, flattered slightly he was suddenly trying to get to know her. "Are you from around here?" she continued, throwing the frisby in his direction. "Nah, I live in Shivenia. We come down here once a year for a week to escape the cold. We're staying in a hotel around here. My parents let me bring some friends, but they decided to go to restaurant or something." he answered. "Why aren't you going?" she asked him, hoping for an explanation of his anorexic appearance. "No money. None of them wanted to give me any, and I didn't want to just sit around and watch them pig out on food." he said wearily, as if Alexis had hit a soft spot. He looked somewhat somber and he wasn't smiling anymore. The boy tossed the frisby to Alexis, who felt bad for trying to milk him for information. He was kind of doing the same though, so she didn't feel too bad. As Alexis tossed it back the boy suddenly perked up, his smile returned and his eyes seem to twinkle against the beating sun. "Hey, do you have any Pokémon?" he asked, enthusiastically.

"Ya, I do. Why?" she replied. "Why don't we have a battle? I'm kind of getting bored of throwing this frisby, and I haven't let my Pokémon out since we left Shivenia. I'm sure they're just dieing to get out." he said, feeling for the pokeballs that must have been in his pocket. Alexis retreated to her thoughts. It was a tempting notion, to have a battle, but she wasn't sure. Stripe wasn't exactly the hardest worker when it came to battling, and he definetly wasn't anything like she had made him in her daydreams. On the other hand, Stripe would never get better without practice... "I guess we could have a battle." she said. "Alright!" the boy shouted, and almost instantaneously he had reached into his pocket and pulled out two small pokeballs. Alexis reached into a small pocket sewn onto her blue bandana and procured a similar pokeball. Without stopping to add in a corny catch phrase, she tossed the pokeball into the air and watched as it came alive and opened, releasing Stripe in a flash of red light. The seagull like creature flew out and around Alexis' head. His white wings were adorned with a single blue stripe on each and his beak was the color of a halloween pumpkin. He landed on Alexis' shoulder and chirped indolently as if to yawn. "Oh come on now you lazy sack of bones, you haven't even done anything yet!" she scolded him as her face twisted into a scowl. The boy laughed as he sent out one of his own Pokémon, he too not bothering with shouting anything out. From his pokeball a small, blue and rubbery looking ball rolled out. It was a Spheal, and it barked playfully at Alexis as it stopped rolling and unfolded it's stubby legs from it's body. "Are you ready?" the boy asked smugly. Alexis just nodded as she fought back a cocky grin of her own. "Ok. Spheal, use powder snow on that Wingull!" he shouted his first command. Within seconds after he shouted his command, Alexis chimed in: "Stripe, take to the air and dodge Spheal's ice attack. After that try to use water gun on Spheal, but don't be surprised if it doesn't do much, it's kind of the same type as you." Stripe commented with another lazy chirp, and he sluggishly jumped from Alexis' shoulder and flew around her once before making his way across the sand toward the Spheal. Meanwhile, the Spheal launched it's attack with a smile. It opened it's mouth wide and released a thin powdery haze of ice that unlike Stripe, flew at a much higher speed (not too fast though, just a noticeable difference) across the battlefield. It was no surprise to either trainer that the frigid attack hit Stripe quickly. Stripe teetered in the air for a moment as the ice enveloped him. His wings became coated and heavy, and a stinging sensation surged through him everytime the substance latched itself onto him like a parasite. At the height of the attack's power, he became grounded, and he hit the sand with a dull thud. It seemed like a lost cause on Alexis' end; It was certantly terrible luck that this guy just so happened to be from Shivenia, and just so happened to be a trainer, and just so happened to have a Spheal with ice attacks. However, Stripe was at least a little worthy, so despite freezing his ass off and the stinging chill, he was able to weakly shoot a small spray of water from his beak at the Spheal. More or less it did nothing, but the Spheal was now drenched in water, which still meant nothing in this case due to most Spheals in general being rather attuned to water. "Heh, your Wingull is going to have to speed up if it wants to keep up with my Spheal." the boy poked at Alexis, who was about ready to pull her hair out. She was just slightly annoyed with him now, and for a moment she imagined a beautiful scene where she dismembered him limb from limb. Who said good people don't have bad thoughts? Anyway, after the frozen assault from Spheal was over, Stripe shook the icy coating off as best he could, and flew into the air again. Alexis seemed to have a renewed zeal at seeing Stripe recover somewhat, which she showed with a stomp of her foot. But now what to do... See, she couldn't go psycho with water gun, because Spheal was...a Spheal, and wasn't really affected by Stripe's watery bursts. She also hadn't tought Stripe anymore moves because of his lax nature, so she was in an interesting situation. "Ok, I know you don't really -know- tackle per se, but try to knock that ball of blubber on it's ass!" she shouted, pointing vigourously toward the opposite side of the field. "Spheal, roll out of the way and blast her Wingull with another powder snow!" the boy shouted almost over Alexis. Both Pokémon quickly went to work; The battle was really heating up. Stripe, still lazy as ever, circled around Spheal, waiting for an opportunity to launch it's not-really-tackle. So much for heating up right? Well, it just so happened that in this case it wasn't such a bad thing. Spheal wasn't exactly in a position to lock onto Stripes position. Unlike last time when Stripe was floating in a straight line, this time it was circling around, so despite the still sluggish movement, the Spheal wasn't about to take any chances. Then from behind, Stripe let himself nosedive, and he fell in close to the Spheal. Unfortunately for Stripe, the fancy aerodynamic move would cost him. See, this put him in a single straight position, making it a breeze for Spheal to spray him with a powdery foam all over again-- Which he did with much veherance. However, even though Spheal was able to launch his attack, Stripe was still homing in, albeit in a lot of pain. It was actually much like a sloppy comedy act really, the way Stripe collided with Spheal's head, and the way they rolled across the sand almost laughing at each other (Spheal was anyway, Stripe was in too much pain from you know-- being spit on). Spheal ![]() Vitality - Possible Concussion?... 7/8 Energy Stripe ![]() Vitality - Freezing Still 8/8 Energy ((I'm assuming since Stripe didn't technically use Tackle though that the energy bar wouldn't go down, right?))

"Well-- not exactly what I had in mind, but ok." Alexis muttered as she watched the events unfold. She was all for fun and everything, but the circus performance that was going on between Stripe and the Spheal wasn't exactly her idea of a battle. It was very displeasing to her, since Stripe was getting hurt simply because he was too much of a lazy ass to speed up. She didn't often get angry like this, and it really made her feel bad that she was getting upset. But the fight was still going on, and apparently this boy was more sadistic then she had thought. He was quite unassuming to say at the very least. In fact, Alexis had to admit to herself that she had found herself slightly attracted to him while they were tossing the frisby around. Her mind was slowly changing though, as the boy kept laughing with each sheet of ice that his Spheal coated Stripe with. She had thought this was just a little game too pass the time away, but a more darker side to this boy's personality was coming out, and she could definetly say it was a complete turn-off. At the very least though he wasn't maniacal or anything yet-- just taking the whole winning thing a little too far. "Haha, good job Spheal! Keep throwing powder snow attacks at Wingull, that seems to be working so far. I don't think he has much left in him." the boy shouted his next set of commands. Spheal curled into a ball and rolled closer to it's owner. It seemed to like that position for some reason. Meanwhile Stripe struggled against the weight and cold of the powdered snow, but surprisingly was able to shake most of it off. Unfortunately it was unable to take flight again, at least for a little bit, and it folded it's wings back so it could at least walk around. Stripe's walk was a small hobble, and instead of walking back to Alexis, it just turned to face the Spheal. "Ok Stripe! Erm--" she paused to think what to do. Unlike last time when Stripe had the air to use as a weapon, this time he was grounded, and with water gun still not a very viable option, there was little she could see to do. Maybe water gun would work though. The last time she had used it, Stripe had been frozen by powder snow and the water gun wasn't nessecarily the strongest. However, pehaps now at it's full power it would do a little more. "Use water gun on Spheal!...I guess." Weeeell, she wasn't so lucky. Stripe opened his mouth and spewed a geyser of water at Spheal. It was definetly stronger then last time, and it was definetly larger. However, as it hit the rubbery surface of Spheal's body, the little ball of blubber didn't even wince or cry in pain. It seemed that it had once again been practically useless. And then Spheal opened it's mouth, with a cocky smile that matched the boy's, and launched another wave of powder snow. Stripe turned to hobble away, but like the first time he was simply too slow, and was again hit with the icy powder. This time though, his resistance to the attack was so low, he was literally blown away, and he flew back and landed near Alexis' feet. Alexis screamed abruptly and quickly as the attack clipped her bare feet. "Hey, that kind of hurt!" she screeched. Stripe laid pretty much frozen at her feet, and Alexis knew he couldn't battle anymore. "Oh Stripe." she cooed sympathetically, and she returned Stripe to his pokeball. "This battle is over ice boy!" she shouted, and she turned around and walked off. "H-hey! Aren't you even going to say bye!?" he shouted back at her, as she became farther and farther away. She didn't stop at all until she reached a pokecenter. Spheal ![]() Vitality 7/8 Energy Stripe ![]() Vitality - Frozen & Incapacitated 7/8 Energy
